Statement
As a part of my daily life I paint and walk the south Downs with my dog.  On my walks I often take photographs or sketch.  This peaceful environment lends itself to the stillness that I aim to capture in my paintings. I enjoy the alchemic process of making paintings and how they evolve.  Colour is exciting to me and the 'invention' of creating new colours. I have developed my own practice and painting formulas over the years. Inspiration for my work often comes from my environment; people and places.  My artistic influences come from the early Modernists, naive self-taught painters and current British and Scottish figurative painters such as - David Hockney, Eileen Cooper and Robert Mclaurin.
